Vincent D'Onofrio tells all

Vincent_donofrio Had a good talk with Vincent D'Onofrio this afternoon. He was great about answering questions you all posted on the blog.  He says he's open to more seasons of Law & Order: Criminal Intent - "I have no plans to go anywhere else" — and he's psyched (my word) that the show has moved to USA Network because it's getting the kind of promotional support it deserves; he says everyone on the show is feeling the love.  I told him lots of you want him to make movies. He said he made two movies simultaneously this summer, both of them shot in NYC area so he could be with the family. They also took some time away before he had to go back to work. Most important, he gets that fans want answers to the many questions raised by last season's LOCI finale but he told me the best thing I can tell you is "The audience needs to be patient. When it happens, it's going to be intense."  If that doesn't pique our interest, nothing will.

I would like to say that if vincent is willing to do another interview in 2009.,that we should be greatful that he is willing to give us some of his time. He is a very good man and actor and deserves to have his right to privacy. He is so sweet and kind to his fans and doesn't like to disappoint anyone. I think all men should be as devouted to there craft and family as vincent is,I hope people will understand him and let him be.

Your interview was last Oct. 2007. I was wondering if you might get a chance to interview Mr. D'Onofrio this Oct/Nov. 2008, before the 8th season starts.

Just want to add to my previous comment listed above. If and when you interview VDO again, ask him if the girls were crazy about him when he was a teenager. I'll bet they rang his phone day and night.Probably drove his Mom crazy. Thanks.

Thanks for the info..I follow Vince's career with a keen interest- I was his next door neighbor when he was stidying acting back in NYC and glad to see his successes!!!

Hi Lorrie,
Just want to say that I agree with just about all the comments. Vincent is absolutely entitled to his privacy. He is an entertainer (in my humble opinion a TERRIFIC one). Yes, he goes to work everyday like everyone. But even Vincent must have had a "CRUSH" on someone at one time or another and was curious to know more about her.
I, for one would love to know not only about when, how and where he met Carin. And if His Daughter lives with him or her Mom,Greta. Doe his Daughter and Son get along or is Elias a pesty little brother? How was his Life growing up? Did he get along with his Sisters(Toni and Elizabeth) or was he a pesty little brother? Was he a mischievous boy? A handfull for his Parents?

Please show this to Vincent. Maybe he'll understand our curiosity and agree to do a light hearted interview about the Little boy who is probably still inside him. By the way,Just thought I'd mention that Vincent and I share the same June 30th birthday.

Thanks,
Lynn A

Greeting from Germany ^_^
I can't wait to see what happens next on the show, I think we must be about one year behind.
Not good for those fingernails ~_^

Well, VDO finally admitted he has a "wife". Never did understand the "secret" on that one! Ha Ha!

LOL Our interest in 'the man' is insatiable. I delight in the fact that he was sweet enough to take the time from his family, and his schedule to do an interview. I envy those who do get the opportunity to speak with him.

Thank you so very much for talking to this fine actor. His ability to form himself into the character he's playing is remarkable. Law and Order: CI is lucky to have such talent on their cast. I am glad that he spoke with you and let us know how he felt about the big move to USA. A lot of us were afraid that he would leave this season because of the move. I am so glad to hear that he is happy with it. Let him know that he has many fans who enjoy his work and look forward to another season of Det. Goren.

So, did VDO and Carin get back together? I notice he's not wearing a band like he did the first time around.

They are really a cute couple!

I don't see anything wrong with fans wanting to know a little more about their favorite character.
And, I do understand his privacy.

But, sometimes you can be too private. You never know who's life you can touch by sharing some of your "privacy". Especially when it's a "good" life! (smile)

I too wished the article on Vincent was more imformative, but knowing his need for privacy I am glad that he at least gave the interview. I have been a fan of his for many, many years, have most of his movies and also his CI series. If he wants to keep his family and private life away from the media, it's OK with me, I can respect him in that way. If you do publish the rest of the interview, would appreciate information as to when and where. Thanks

and we wonder why he does not give interviews? See below.

Dear Ms. Lynch-
Hi-
When you said interview, we were expecting an interview-
We really don't mean to be hard on you, but it is rare to hear that Vincent is doing an interview, so the anticipation was quite high-
This was really more a comment than an inteview-
I don't know whether you overexaggerated what was going to happen, or Vincent decided no interview, but from your comments to fans here on your blog, it seems maybe that there was more than what you posted-
So it's just that we value Vincent's privacy but an interview now and then really isn't asking too much-
So if you have more to publish, we would love to read it-
If not, maybe you needed to research Vincent more to realize that "interview" is a difficult word to use in the same line as Vincent D'Onofrio, unless you have a real committment for an actual interview-
Sincerely-
Regi.

We get your point regi, is it needed to post the long winded reply THREE times???? That is spamming, time to turn of the comments i think!

Haaay!!!
give the guy a break!!!
Vincent is a man who wakes up in the morning and shows up to do his job just like the rest of us.
his just happens to be in Entertainment. are you on pins and needles when you hear from your doctor, or lawyer or school teacher? do you chase down firemen, policemen or politicians?
some people thrive on being on the front page, being in the spot light and the center of attention.. and then there are others who appreciate the love from fans but want to live their lives peacefully...privately.
Vince is one of those people.
how many times have you had to do something because of your job that you really didnt want to do?
he has every right to give of himself what he chooses. he shows his appreciation to us by going to work every day and giving us his best.
put yourself in his place.
we shouldnt expect so much from him just because he's in television.
it would be like me having every one of my customers ask me to fix them a special dish just because im a chef instead of appreciating what i took the time to create on my own.

chef

Thank you for writing this " Chef Deanna", i agree with you totaly, too much is expected of the man. Anybody who is a long time fan knows he does not like interviews as such, like other celebs. He fiercly protects his privacy and family, which is his right.

So why cant people except it that way, take what he gives, when he does, and enjoy his great work. If i had to choose between interviews and his work, i would choose not to have any interviews, and only his work.

He said that he hoped people liked what he did, and as long as they liked the show, he would keep doing it. ( from an interview)

Some people have fiery mouths as such towards others, but i see common sense prevailed here, lets hope with the new spam posts now, that also will be removed. Nobody should wish ill toward another person, its discusting, maybe an "Approval" of posts monitor should be put here to stop trolls and spammers?

last but not least, if you do do something more from the interview, i hope it is a reply from Mr D`Onofrio about releasing his short film, "5 Minutes Mr Welles". Thanks again for all you have done, you certainly have been patient and taken criticism well. Kind regards Shelby

I'd love to read the whole interview!!

Hi Lorrie,

Thank you so much for thinking about expanding on your interview of Mr D'Onofrio for all of us who are his fans. That is so thoughtful of you. Fingers and toes crossed ;)

Lorrie,

That would be great if you could tell us more. He so rarely gives interviews these days.

Thanks for caring about his fans.

Hope the Gloria Estefan interview did not fall through.

Hi Lorrie,

Thank you for considering adding more of your conversation with Vincent to your Blog. It is truly appreciated!

If some posters seem frustrated,it is only because Mr. D'Onofrio rarely does interviews, so we are anxious to hear as much as possible.

Please let us know when appropriate which USA newspaper edition you will be mentioning Mr. D'Onofrio in,OK?

Sincerely,
Donna

Lorrie, thanks so much for giving us a peek into your forthcoming article. I will follow Mr. D'Onofrio's advice and "remain patient." Of course, I'll be tapping my feet anxiously the whole time!

Posted by: Robert | Sep 12, 2007 1:18:03 PM | Flag as abusive

Lorrie, thanks for the feedback, Mr D`Onofrio told us things from his own mouth, that is rare.

Im sorry to read his fan`s are so politely rude to you, this behaviour doesnt deserve a follow up from you.

I only hope Mr D`Onofrio reads these comments, over zealeous would be the word to describe some here. No wonder he stays under the radar. Thanks again Lorrie, kind regard shelby

Posted by: Shelby | Sep 12, 2007 12:51:04 PM | Flag as abusive

Thanks for the feedback all. Sorry to disappoint. I'll run a short piece on D'Onofrio in my magazine column around the time L0CI comes back on the air, Oct. 4. I'll consider running more here too. The conversation was about 20 minutes - enough to get into the show, the movies he made last summer, what else he'd like to do, the family a little. Certainly not an in-depth interview.
