Kanye West's mother, Elisabeth Hasselbeck's son

Over coffee … this morning I'm considering the news that Prince Harry and longtime girlfriend Chelsy Davy have split. This is, of course, according to a London tabloid. Palace officials never talk about such things. But I learned reading Tina Brown's very good book, The Diana Chronicles, that the royal reporters are right about 99% of the time.

Kanye West's mother, Donda West, died over the weekend after complications from cosmetic surgery.  She was just 58.

Elisabeth_hasselbeck Elisabeth Hasselbeck and husband Tim had a baby boy. She's expected to call into The View this morning to announce the baby's name.

Angelina Jolie
and Brad Pitt went to the London premiere of her movie, Beowulf. He let her have the limelight, as usual.

In case you haven't heard, Broadway stagehands are on strike and at least two dozen Broadway shows — including Wicked, The Lion King and Phantom of the Opera —- are dark.

There is still no movement in the writers' strike, though some high-powered agents are reportedly getting involved to try to bring both sides back to the bargaining table. Meanwhile, the layoff of non-writers who worked for shows no longer in production is beginning.

Also, horrors, the publicity plans for big movies coming out are affected because there are no late shows for the big stars to go on to promote their product.

Britney Spears, with both boys in their car seats, recently ran a red light while using her cellphone. And people wonder why the court wanted monitored visits?

At the movies, Jerry Seinfeld's Bee Movie, which was No. 2 last weekend, was No. 1 this weekend. American Gangster slipped from No. 1 to 2. But the real story here is that Tom Cruise's new movie, Lions for Lambs, did not perform well. It was No. 4, after Vince Vaughn's Fred Claus.

Former President George H.W. Bush — who is 83, by the way — jumped from an airplane Saturday. It was his sixth skydive, and he did it to celebrate the reopening of his presidential museum in Texas.

Here's a country music show I'd go see: Keith Urban and Carrie Underwood will tour together starting Jan. 31.
