My eyes in L.A. saw Beckinsale in Snow Angels, opening in March; she plays a mother who neglects her young daughter. But in this film, unlike Ryan’s, the mother has to pay. Britain-born Beckinsale shows a perfect understanding of the American, small-town character she plays. Sam Rockwell co-stars as Beckinsale’s creepy estranged husband.
