Jason Segel's 'Forgetting Sarah Marshall' is fun
Posted by Lorrie LynchI couldn't resist seeing the new Judd Apatow movie Forgetting Sarah Marshall over the weekend. Me and millions of others, as it turns out. It was No. 2 (behind the new Jet Li/Jackie Chan movie) making $17 million. I am now officially a fan of Jason Segel, who wrote the movie and stars. It's adorable enough to forgive the few places where it goes on a little too long. Check out the trailer at the bottom of this post.
On Sunday nights I'm hooked on two cable series, though HBO's brilliant John Adams finished up last night. Laura Linney, who played Abigail Adams, is in a category with Meryl Streep when it comes to her performance in this series - she is an unsurpassed American actress. And Paul Giamatti as the title character also is beyond compare. If Emmy voters do not reward these two in September it will be an unforgivable slight.
I'm also caught up in Showtime's The Tudors, starring Jonathan Rhys Meyers as King Henry VII. Now in its second season, Rhys Meyers is a more mature Henry and sexier than heck. Natalie Dormer, who plays his Anne Boleyn, is clearly a woman with a big career about to blossom. In real life, she's a singer, a dancer and a fencer. She also has a three-picture deal with Disney. I love one of her quotes on The Tudors. She said, "It's everything a period drama shouldn't be: sexy, raw and violent." That it is.
