Kym Johnson predicts Kristi Yamaguchi and Jayson Taylor in DWTS finals

Kym_johnson_2Dwtsbuttonsmall_2 Just back from coffee with Kym Johnson (at right), the professional dancer who has partnered with Jerry Springer, Joey Fatone and Penn Jillette on Dancing with the Stars. The tall, platinum blonde had just finished a taping for the TV GUIDE channel, at home in the Kodak Theatre complex where the Oscars are held. I had to walk on the Walk of Fame stars of Greta Garbo, Tom Cruise, and Whoopi Goldberg to get to Kym. I've talked with Kym several times to get her expertise on the show, how to judge the dancing and what it's like to be part of it, but today I asked if she will give us her professional opinion or analysis each Tuesday until a winner is chosen and she said yes. So here's a start. Click "Read more" below for her thoughts ...

After last night's performances Kym's predicting it will be a Kristi Yamaguchi vs. Jason Taylor showdown. Yes, I know, who couldn't predict that? But Johnson says athletes are so much like dancers in the discipline they bring to the contest that it's not surprising so many do well.  Kym says insiders think women vote and men don't. And women vote for the men, thus men win. But no woman has won since Kelly Monaco, so it could be Kristi this time around. That leaves three couples and Kym loves them all so it was hard for her to pick who will make it to the final three. Cheryl Burke, with whom Kym is planning a post-Dancing Mexican vacation, and Cristian de la Fuente, who got hurt last night, were doing so well, she says, "but I love Marissa, she's just exactly who she seems on TV and Mario is just the greatest." So, there you have it. This may be a Dancing finals too close to call.

Stretch70 - That was my bad. The show is live. Kym and I talked about noon - 6 hours before the show; we should have made it clear she only thought there were 3 couples who COULD make it to the finals...that she (and I) thought shannon would be out. But, of course, we didn't yet know.

How is it there is no mention of "Shannon" in Kym's blog. This was posted "before Tues. nite's
show. The show is supposed to be live.

burke danced with wayne newton. Kristi, Jason, and Marissa are the best. Kristi and Jason have always been the best....cristian has always been the least to achieve even being real good let alone great.
