Jordana Spiro and 'My Boys' are back
Posted by Lorrie Lynch
After nearly a year-long break (blame the writers' strike coinciding with cable TV's non-traditional season schedule), the TBS hit sitcom My Boys is finally back tomorrow at 9 p.m. ET. Kathy Rowings had the chance to talk with the show's star, Jordana Spiro (at right), a while back, so read below for her full report on what surprises to expect and what changes will occur.
Even avid viewers may need a refresher on where My Boys left off, so here's a brief reminder: Jordana Spiro's character, PJ, had booked a trip to Italy with her best friend Stephanie (Kellee Stewart). They got the tickets on a 2-for-1 deal, so both made it their goal to bring a cute new boyfriend along -- a goal Stephanie had met but PJ hadn't. The season ended with a cliffhanger: Who did PJ invite on the romantic trip?
I'm certainly not going to spoil it for you, but Spiro was right on when she told me, "It's not who you expect." When I asked her for anything else she could reveal, she joked that, "Jim Gaffigan has a beard." (That, too, I'll let you find out about on your own.) Having seen the first two episodes, I can tell you that the show's as good as it's ever been. All the characters go through some struggles -- Brendan (Reid Scott) has to deal with a changing job, while Mike (Jamie Kaler) and Bobby (Kyle Howard) try to figure out women -- but they keep their sense of humor and great group dynamic. Plus, Nia Vardalos guest stars. So if you haven't checked out My Boys before, give it a shot tomorrow.
