Kathie Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb share stories
Posted by Lorrie LynchMy boss, Jack Curry, the Editor of USA WEEKEND, is always pushing me and the rest of the staff to find unconventional ways to tell our stories, especially the familiar ones. So I can hardly wait to read what he got from his interview with new Today show co-hosts Kathie Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb. Here's how it went down, according to Jack. (That's him pictured below with the ladies and our deputy photo editor Sarah Claxton.)
"Interviewing the interviewers can be easy or tough. Years ago I talked to the then-hot Garry Shandling and he was a petulant, rambling boor. I've actually been on Bill Maher's old talk show and he was as polite and hospitable off screen as he can be pugnacious on air. Yesterday when I sat down with Kathie Lee and Hoda or an upcoming cover story on Today I got a) flirted with, b) red-faced — they are dirty! and c) thoroughly entertained. Kathie Lee told a story with references to what happens to Eastern European men when they swim naked in cold water (figure it out) that, though she claims she told on air, I can't repeat here. Hoda says the most emails she has gotten from viewers was when on a recent show she revealed her weight, so I will do the same and hope we get the same reaction: 146. Check out that photo and maybe you can see Mrs. Gifford checking out my muscles -- cool with me but you've got to wonder what Frank is going to think. All in all, a fun time and I think good material for what I hope will be USA WEEKEND's fresh look at this well established show in the July 13 issue."

I find it quite interesting that those whithout children have the nerve to comment on how to raise children. I agree with Kathy Lee......the TRUTH is the ONLY way to go. White lies to children lead to false truths. Come Hoda get real
To Koda about this morning show. First, MJ's mother would not comment about this book. Second, why would a religious leader wright a book about one of his sheep? Third, why would anyone now feel MJ has a normal recollection? Fourth, why did MJ allow his children to be put into this same situation if it was so bad? Fifth, news sells if it is true or not, right?
Today 4th Hour is my favorite daytime TV and I enjoy both Kathie Lee and Hoda, but Kathie Lee makes the show and when she's not on it's not nearly as much fun. Long may it continue!
I enjoy Hoda and Kathie Lee---I think they work well together. You need a show that keeps you on your toes and has laughs, especially in the morning when you are trying to wake up. They do a great job. I do not think Kathie Lee is phony at all. She is a caring individual who has achieved a lot and has gone through a lot. I give her a lot of credit. I think Hoda and her get along fine. I am glad they are a team
Today is Tue August 25th and I have spent the last two days watching Hoda and Tarmron and have really enjoyed the show. No Kathy Lee butting in and acting silly and not letting Koda finish a sentence. Stay on vacation Kathy. Koda and Tamron work well together.

Would love to see local, worldfamous author Sandra Cisneros interviewed on H @ K segment. Would be very interesting to hear her views on family,men,youth,etc.!!!!!

Th4 toilet you had on your show today was not the best.
You go to Germany on the autobaun and the toilets when you flush. The toilet arm come out sprays the seat, the seat turns aroung in this arm and cleans it.

kathy lee,i hurd you talkinf about your friend richard maltby,i knew his father and stepmother in calif.i met him when his father passed away,he sang a beautiful song at the service,i can't remember what it was but was from one of his shows his father was a very nice man.watch you everyday at two in the afternoon
YOU GO GIRLS, you both are great no matter what others say- you can make me laugh, cry and argue with you at the same time. Unemployed and almost of your age group, I only get to see other women on t.v. Hubby and 2 sons and plenty of teenage boys that are friends with mine. Also worked in a male oriented workplace for 20 years. I love seeing you in the mornings while doing house work, please keep up the good work!!!!!!! :)

I love the Today Show. And I love KLG. I have loved her since the early 80's when she was with Regis. I have read all her books, bought her music CD's and I have a fabulous story to tell about her. Im hoping to come to NY next year when my Son's book get's published and maybe he can appear on the Today's show and she and Hoda can interview him as he is only 13! Anyway - I hate reading all these comments that are negative about her, Come on people grow up! She is a wonderful and funny person and I will continue to watch the show on my days off!!
In my opinion, it is Hoda and not Kathie Lee who is recently bcoming an annoying, attention grabbing pain in the butt. For the past several show, she has worn very low cut dresses and then puts on this coy act about being embarrassed that her cleavage is showing. For God's sake, Hoda, grow up. If you don't want people to see your cleavage, stop wearing dresses cut so low and wear a turtle-neck top every morning. Stop acting like a flirty cheerleader teasing the guys on the football team to get some attention.
I really want that cheese recipe that Sara's Mother made. It looked soooo good.
Kathy Lee just takes over, Hoda needs to be more outgoing and a tad bit more agressive. She can definately use a makeover on that hairstyle too.
i have been a kathy lee gifford fan since she was with regis.i was so happy to see her out there again when i was flipping through the channels. i was surprised to read the comments of other viewers,i was like omg. well anyway,i myself find her very funny and she looks absolutly cute with her new bangs!! you go girl!!
YES, kathy yells to much and allways ,trying to be center of it all.interups alot.drinking to much is a bad influince on children!
Why don't you ever have casual Friday? You know, where jeans... not $120 ones either... During this recession, if the host would like to relate to the "average viewer".... LOOK LIKE "THE AVERAGE VIEWER".... How could I ever possibly compete or relate to Hoda and Kathi Lee...I get $12 haircuts, do my own manicures and never go to a movie, let alone a play EVERY Wednesday... how could I possibly relate? I like to watch the show but always feel inferior because I could never relate!
I thought it was just me,but Kathy Lee is loud and seeks to gain attention for herself. I contribute that to experiencing low self esteem especially after infidelity. She now mimicks the behaivor of Regis because she was definitely not the center of attention on the once Regis and Kathy Lee Show for we all know it was Regis.

Kathy Lee Gifford is old, obnoxious and rude. I can't even imagine why in the world they hired her to co host with Hoda Kotb...almost anybody (with the exception of equally obnoxious Jenna Wolf) could have done a better job
I am inagreement with another person kathy lee is
always so loud and trying to be the center of the show that at times i cannot hear hoda or the person that they are interviewing. i never understude why ann curry wasn't kept with hoda. she did do the she in the begining. i think hoda is always used as kathy lee's punching bag for laughs. i really loved the idea of the show but not with kathy lee.
Hoda is the reason I watch if I watch, because Kathie Lee is so annoying, she just never shuts up. What is wrong with the network "suits?" They are blind to this and Hoda deserves to be in the lead role here. Wake up people!
