Comic-Con: 'Heroes' and 'Lost'
Posted by Lorrie Lynch
Brian's final full day at Comic-Con 2008 was just that: FULL. He learned again that his fellow geeks are willing to wait it out for the good panels: He reports that the line for the Heroes panel started forming at 2 a.m. the night before. His first stop? The panel for the upcoming Wonder Woman animated DVD feature, starring
Keri Russell.
That was over quick, so he sped downstairs and was able to catch the tail end of the Heroes panel, which screened the entire first episode of the upcoming season. It got a good reaction form the audience. Read more below to find out how TONS of inside scoop out what's up next for Lost, what secret J.J. Abrams spilled about Fringe, and what Brendan Fraser has to say about Jet Li.

Each of Lost's final two seasons, starting in February '09 and '10, will run 17 episodes each.
Vincent the dog will make it to the final season, and the mysterious (and currently
deceased) Rousseau, will have her definitive story finally told. In
addition to the flashbacks and flash-forwards that have defined each
season so far, producers Carlton Cuse and Damon Lindelof revealed that a third new
device will be used in the story structure. The "secondary protocol" of
last season will play an important role in this one. The audience got a
pleasant surprise when Matthew Fox (at left) made an
appearance. We found out that Kate and Sawyer will see each other again, and there will be many more
permutations of the Jack/Kate/Sawyer relationship in the final two
seasons. The panel ended with a very strange Dharma "recruitment
video," where Dr. Martin Candle reveals himself to be Pierre Chang, an
astrophysicist who got trapped on the island. He went 30 years into the
future (referencing George W. Bush and the Internet) and says that
because of a violent purge, the Dharma Initiative needs to be reborn
right away.
* I had an intimate sitdown with the entire cast of Chuck but had to leave that to visit with J.J. Abrams before his Fringe panel. We talked a lot about keeping secrets on screen and off, but he did reveal one thing about his Fringe star - "We're not cutting Anna Torv's hair," a reference to the gigantic backlash he got for chopping off Keri Russell's mane during Felicity. After that, I headed up to the Pushing Daisies press room to get some scoop on the quirky ABC show's second season from leads Lee Pace and Anna Friel. Stay tuned to the blog for more on everything Daisies.
* My day ended at the Universal panel, where they discussed a quartet of upcoming films. Star of The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor Brendan Fraser gushed that martial-arts icon Jet Li "can throw a roundhouse kick and only hit your shirt. He's a pro." Then there were clips from the upcoming Death Race. The third flick -- Sam Raimi's return to horror, Drag Me to Hell - received the most positive reaction, with the same tongue-in-cheek humor of his The Evil Dead. (He also teased that he wants to work with Bruce Campbell again, so yet another Evil Dead "is in the wheelhouse.") The Land of the Lost was the grand finale, with taped interview clips and the super-short teaser with Will Ferrell and an over-sized Tyrannosaurus Rex.
Tomorrow's visit will be brief - hitting press rooms for my two favorite CW shows, Supernatural and Smallville - but I'll be wrapping up the whole Comic-Con experience for you on Monday. For the complete final day, visit www.comic-con.org.
