2008 TV season stars on what to watch
Posted by Lorrie LynchA new fall TV season begins Monday with Steven Bochco's Raising the Bar on TNT. You can read about some new and favorite television stars in the latest Who's News. We also asked them what they watch, just for the blog:
• Jennie Garth, who is back on the CW's 90210 is addicted to American Idol. "When it's over [for the season] I have major depression. I say to my husband,'What do I have to live for?'"
• Joshua Jackson (at left), who stars in Fox's new Fringe, watches AMC's Mad Men. "They have (guts) in presenting this world, warts and all and not backing off...to show grown men smacking a child and all the adults laughing, smoking, drinking, having affairs, they didn't shy away from it. The problem with network TV is that they think they're braver than they are."
• Julia Levy, the Israeli actress who is the girl on HBO's Entourage, watches Prison Break, Nip/Tuck, and Gossip Girl. “I love American TV shows.”
• Angela Bassett, who heads to NBC's ER this season, doesn't miss "Hell’s Kitchen, Flip This House, What Not to Wear."
• Elizabeth Reaser, starring in CBS' The Ex List, loves HBO's Flight of the Conchords. “I’m obsessed" she
says. "That, to me, is so original.”
• Simon Baker, also in new CBS fare, The Mentalist, watches Gossip Girl with his teenage daughter. "I enjoy watching her watching it more than I enjoy the show."
• Niecy Nash (at right), on the new Fox show Do Not Disturb, says, "I have have to confess the mayhem and foolishness that comes with The Bachelor and Bachelorette is hilarious to me. That's my guilty pleasure."
