I don't think Tom Welling can even play, well at the beginning of Smallville cuz then I couldn't see more of it...
The best Superman for me is Dean cain, he's handsome and his muscles aren't fake, plus he's the first Superman I've ever seen, and I was in love with him for years when I was younger...
Anyway, Christopher Reeve is a great one two, and if there had to be two Supermen, I'd say it'd be them...
DEAN, CHRIS YOU RUUUUULE !!!
Clearly Routh should play Superman in the next movie.
brandon rounth is the best superman apart from being handsome acting very well,i tink that nobody will better role the tom welling is handsome and good market would be like superman but not action as well as brandon rounth....
is a very good actor*

Brandon Routh is so cute but after a little thought I think Tom Welling would be a better choice. His acting is better and so many people aready see him as Superman. Tom Welling for Superman!
Tom Welling would perfect for the reboot. I saw SR and Routh was so dull and the entire film looked like it was a knockoff of the Reeve films. Everything felt so plastic. I hope this time around we get a good story and a better actor.
Well, I'd have to go for Chris Reeve, because he's the one who set up the foundation for Superman and his upcoming legacies. However, to continue from where Reeve left off, I would say Routh.
Not Welling.
Routh has the potential to bring out what Reeve still had inside of him. Welling, though supposed to be a younger Clark Kent (I understand why they chose him for that role), would not fit into the suit for Superman. Superboy, maybe. But not Superman.
But I cheer Routh on because he brings out the Reeve I know would have continued in the Superman legacy.
May God bless you, Mister Reeve, and may you rest in peace.
Re: Gobby
Dean Cain's Clark was hardly cool (if anything, I'd say George Reeves was too 'cool'). He didn't play the over the top bumbling Clark like Chris Reeve's, but his subtle performance of the smallville 'farmboy' aspect of Clark's character remains. The only other actor who had the opportunity to show this was Tom Welling. Also, you misunderstand. 'Lois and Clark: The New Adventures of Superman' is post-Crisis. If you don't know what I'm referring to, in this version, Clark Kent is the person, Superman is the disguise.
Re: N
That is far from the truth. Dean Cain fans generally think he's the best Clark Kent, but still maintain that Christopher Reeve is hands down the best Superman (which I myself agree with). The thing is, Dean Cain only played Superman for relatively 5 minutes in a typical episode of 'Lois and Clark'; and the show is generally about Clark (hence the title) so there are times where I don't consider him Superman but Clark Kent.
Hey, I'll say it: In a poll where Dean Cain gets as many votes as Christopher Reeve, Tom Welling AND George Reeves combined, something is afoot. I read a lot of stuff about who everyone's favorite Superman is and there is no doubt, Christopher Reeve should be winning by a large margin. I like all five actors and I think Cain seems like a great guy, but come on. He did not get more than 40% of that vote by any fair means.
It is something how people judge just because they are not aware of someones talent. If you are a Superman fan and have watched since the 50's and continue to watch the shows and the movies associated with Superman then certainly you have to give Lois and Clark credit for the 4 year run. If you haven't seen it and only have seen the recent movie and the recent Smallville, how can you judge only by that? I have seen all of the shows from George Reeve to Tom welling. I have seen all the movies with Chris and the one with Brandon. I can tell you that they all have their own greatness and I won't knock any of the actors that play Superman. But unless you've seen Lois and Clark for the 4 years it was on you can't possibly say why is Cain's number high. You can accuse fraud all you like but the show had lots of fans, Dean has lots of fans and they are loyal and they vote. He was the best looking Superman head to toe, in my opinion. He also was the best Clark Kent of all of them. I have seen Smallville since the start and I like Tom Welling. Tom is a nice looking guy and an OK kid in the Clark role, but there is no comparison to Dean's. Dean was classic Clark Kent, everything all the Superman fans of the comics expected Clark to be. I think people who haven't seen ALL the Supermen listed here should not make judgment calls on the ones they haven't fully watched from start to finish. I respect anyone who picks their favorite because they love him. But why knock the others, especially if you don't know what their impact on Superman is or was. Just vote on your favorite whoever it is and stop the negative comments for the other guys who deserve props for their contribution to the character. I think we can all agree that the people here all love Superman, whoever he is in their eyes.
I know people say that want just Tom Welling or the entire "Smallville" gang in the next theatrical movie, but I was always dubious, having heard that the ratings weren't very good. But I had no idea how bad they had gotten.
According to The Los Angeles Times:
"The seventh season finished up in May with an average of 3.7 million viewers per episode, down considerably from the 6.3 million tuning in back in Season Two."
If Smallville was on any network other than the WB, those numbers would have led to its cancellation. CBS just canceled the "Ex-List" due to low ratings and it was pulling 5.3 million viewers on Fridays, a night when numbers are always weak, compared to to 3.7 million viewers for "Smallville" on Thursdays, which is a night that has strong ratings numbers.
People can argue, as I have heard, that "Smallville" is the highest-rated scripted show on the WB. That is some faint praise.
I really don't see WB & DC bringing that Welling (with or without the rest of the cast) to the big screen. If only 1.11% of the public bothers to watch the show for free, how many can be expected to make the trek to the theater to lay out approximately $10?
I have been hearing rumors that Routh could still come back. That would be awesome!
Tom Welling? Good Lord, no. That guy can't act. I'll take Reeve any day of the week. I did like Routh in the role, though.
And why does Cain have so many votes? (Fraud maybe?)
Although I am love with Tom Welling, I admit that he is not the best Superman. I would rather have any other actor play Superman.
My vote goes for Brandon Routh, though I really love both Christopher Reeve and Routh the same, it's a tough one. They are both AWESOME!
Wow. All those Tom Welling fan sites have put in desperate pleas for people to vote for him and he still is only in fourth place.
I thought Brandon Routh did a great job pushing Christopher Reeve's legacy forward. I really hope to see him in the next Superman movie.
Brandon Routh is clearly the best choice for Superman. Hopefully Warner Bros. will come to their senses and realize this.
okay maybe no one is listening to aword i said. The person who put of the poll doesn't care who wins on it. it's a Fun poll that's all it is. So stop taking it so seriously. Okay, everyone take a deep breat and stop obsessing over it. It doesn't mean anythingX
Tom Welling would make the best superman, no doubt about it. Brandon Routh was just a mini-me clone of christopher reeve and did a sub-par impersonation of reeve to boot. I'm excited to hear about the reboot, but if Routh is cast again, I'll stay home and save my money. I couldn't stomach to see that dead beat in the superman costume again.
Surely Tom Welling is the best as Superman!
I just read this at my local library.
Dean was a great Clark, but not the best Superman.
I know George started it all, so I will applaud him.
Chris was limited by the film making, but What an actor!
The latest Superman movie should not have been made, sorry but Brandon wasn't the right pick.
The movie should be made after Smallville ends. Tom Welling as Superman and Micheal Rosenberg as Lex. Use the entire Smallville cast. One of the best shows on TV.
I have watched all of them and was a big fan of Chris, Dean and Even the old George Reeves shows.
Lois and Clark was a little hookie and times, but I still loved every one of them. As for Brandon fans, please don't take offense, but the entire cast didn't cut it for me.
Tom Welling is THE BEST. Tom is great in Smallville, but the entire cast has been fantastic! I know he will have a lot of opportunities after Smallville ends, but I really want to see him in a series of films.
I just want to say that I love them all.
I thought Brandon did a fine job. The guy has that Superman "look" about him and I enjoyed Superman Returns. I wouldn't mind seeing him in a sequel to that movie.
I especially loved Dean Cain's portrayal of Clark (I was tired of the bumbling Clark from the movies). And Dean may have filled out the suit better than anyone to date. The guy was so perfectly proportioned! I still love watching Lois and Clark.
Chris is the Superman I grew up with and I thought he was great too. Loved Superman 1 & 2, but lost interest after that.
But the question is, who is your favorite Superman and I voted for Tom Welling.
I'm a Smallville fan and with Tom and this show I have become more deeply attached to the character. His Clark is so real and endearing... and the fact that he is an imposing figure as well as drop dead gorgeous... well, that just makes it better! Just because he hasn't put on a costume doesn't mean you can't see Superman growing up before your eyes.
DC had a general Superman trailer (added to DVDs) that was made up of footage from all the various incarnations of Superman over the years. It was all good, but the little thrill I got every time I saw Tom and scenes from Smallville left no doubt that he's my favorite. But that doesn't mean I don't like the others. ;)
Tom Welling is Superman!
