When LaKisha Jones' daughter Brionne wakes up Sunday she'll tell her mom, "No more days, Mommy." Brionne has been counting down the days until her mom's wedding and today's the big day. The Season Six American Idol contestant will put on her designer wedding dress, borrowed jewels and say I do to Larry Davis, a 6-foot-6 financial services practitioner she met through a mutual friend in Houston, where she lives.
The nuptials today, however, are in Beverly Hills, Calif., and old Hollywood is the theme. LaKisha was busy packing for the weekend trip when we talked last week but she was a calm and cool bride-to-be. She wanted the ceremony and celebration to be small - about 50 - but it crept up to about 60, LaKisha told me. Among the guests will be some Idol friends, including fan fave Sanjaya.
October is a big month for Lakisha. Her first album was to be released on Tuesday but it's been pushed back until later this month. Oh well, more time for a honeymoon.
