'Housewives' Gale Harold recovering

News of Gale Harold's motorcycle accident made us gasp yesterday, as our Gayle Carter had recently interviewed the new Desperate Housewives star and found him delightful. He was part of our late August Who's News package in the magazine, which looked at the new television season. The better news today is that Harold, who many readers know from Showtime's Queer as Folk, is expected to recover, though when he may go back to Housewives, where he plays Teri Hatcher's boyfriend (they're pictured at left), is unclear.
When he spoke with us at the beginning of the season Harold, who has dropped into other successful series like Deadwood and Grey's Anatomy, compared the experience of arriving on the Housewives set to being the new kid in school who's just trying to fit in. "It's that old high school conundrum," he said. "To have a personality but don't try to get into trouble for it." At the same time, he understood his castmates' bonds, having spent five years on Queer as Folk. "They definitely have their internal logic, a shorthand," said Harold, 39. "I'm just sitting back in an anthropological way watching it happen."
