John Travolta, Miley Cyrus voice 'Bolt,' opening Friday

Our L.A. reporter Bart Mills has been busy screening the many upcoming films, including this weekend's animated feature, Bolt. Check out the trailer below, and read on for Mills's report:

John Travolta happily woofs his way through his voice role as the title dog in Bolt, opening Friday. The film is a Toy Story-esque exploration of an alternative reality — not of toys this time, but of pets. Like Buzz Lightyear, who didn’t realize he was a toy, Bolt doesn’t realize he’s a performer in a TV show.  So when he inadvertently escapes from the set of his show and tries to find his way back across the country, he has to learn a lot about the real world. Only then does he discover the extent of his supposed superpowers, particularly his all-conquering "superbark." Helping him is a recalcitrant cat, voiced by Curb Your Enthusiasm’s Susie Essman, and a couch potato hamster in a plastic ball, voiced by Mark Walton.  As Bolt makes his way back home to his “person” (voiced by Miley Cyrus), he discovers new powers along the way, joining the pantheon of great screen canines from Lassie to Benji to the Beverly Hills Chihuahua.
