Exclusive: Elisabeth Moss engaged!
Posted by Lorrie Lynch
As I’m busy packing and settling up last-minute details for my trip to this weekend’s SAG Awards, our Kathy Rowings took a few minutes to talk to one of the nominees, Elisabeth Moss. Kathy reports that the Mad Men actress, who’s nominated for her lead role in the AMC show, has more than just the awards to be excited about: She just got engaged to boyfriend (“actually, now fiancé,” Moss excitedly corrected herself), Saturday Night Live star Fred Armisen. “It happened just a few days ago — you’re actually the first press person I’ve told this to,” she told Kathy. “It’s private, so I don’t want to share the details of how it happened, but I will say it was perfect.” Click on read more below to find out about Moss’ SAG plans, what she knows about the return of Mad Men and how she’s liking her first Broadway stint, in David Mamet’s Speed-the-Plow.

Congratulations on the SAG nomination! Are you getting ready to head out to L.A. for the awards show?
Yeah, I’m heading out Sunday morning. It’s a quick
trip, totally. We have a show for Speed-the-Plow on Tuesday, so I’m
coming back to New York on Monday.
Do you have your dress picked out?
I went and got a dress on Monday. I’m kind of laid back to a fault
about these things. I don’t like a lot of fuss about it. The dress fits
perfectly, so it’s just pretty much all done and very easy.
I just read that Mad Men should be back in July, and I have to tell you that I’m really excited for it.
Really? Where did you read that? I don’t even know that! I know
we’re trying to go back, and Matt [Weiner, the executive producer and
head writer] just closed his deal, so that makes sense. And I know
we’re trying to do everything like the last two seasons, which started
I think around the end of July. I can’t wait to go back and get to work
on it. We kind of all feel like the actual work is short, because it’s
only four months of shooting, and then the rest of the time we’re going
to awards shows.
Well, you’ve certainly had some pretty good luck with awards shows…
Oh yeah, no, it’s definitely great. We have had some pretty great experiences.
And how is Speed-the-Plow going?
It’s fantastic. This is our fifth month, our fourth of
performances. William H. Macy is fantastic. It’s a marathon for sure,
but I’m loving it. And I love that I get to be in New York. I moved to
New York at 19, because I wanted to do theater. I ended up doing more
TV and films and went back and forth between New York and L.A., so this
is a kind of a lucky happenstance. It’s my first Broadway play, too, so
it’s sort of been the perfect experience.

They ARE both quite talented. I wonder if she's got a sense of humor underneath all that awkwardness...
Nice scoop! I'm happy for those two. They're both very talented. I wonder how long they've been dating...
