Check out our exclusive video from 'Wolverine'

XMOW-112 It’s only a couple more weeks before the release of summer’s first major blockbuster, X-Men Origins: Wolverine, but we’re giving our readers an exclusive video sneak peek here at the many characters in the superhero movie. Our Brian Truitt chatted with director Gavin Hood about four of the major players in the movie — Wolverine (Hugh Jackman), Sabretooth (Liev Schreiber), Gambit (Taylor Kitsch) and Deadpool (Ryan Reynolds) — for a special piece in the magazine. After you check out the video below, click read more for Brian and Gavin’s full rundown of who’s who (in order of video appearance), and stay tuned to the blog for more Wolverine news and interviews before the movie’s May 1 release.

XMOW-010 Wolverine (Jackman): “Wolverine is very much the lead in this movie,” Hood says. “It's his story.” Wolverine’s history with the Weapon X program was seen in brief flashbacks in the prior X-Men movies, but you’ll get to see the whole transformation from man to near-beast in his solo film debut.

Col. William Stryker (Danny Huston): According to Hood, the military man puts together the black-ops Team X, a group of mutants that Wolverine joins for a short period of time. Brian Cox played an older version of the character in the movie X2.

XMOW-152 Emma Frost (Tahyna Tozzi): Those who follow X-Men comics know this popular character as an adult. In the film, she’s a teenage telepath who can turn her skin into diamond.

Gambit (Kitsch): “A card shark with the power to charge any object he touches with explosive energy, he features later in the film as a character Wolverine tracks down to help him in his search for someone who may — or may not — be the murderer of his lover.”

John Wraith (Will.i.am): A close friend to Wolverine, he’s a teleporter much like Nightcrawler, a character also featured in X2.

The Blob (Kevin Durand): The man also known as Fred Dukes is a 700-pound wrecking crew who’s pretty much immovable when his feet are touching the ground.

XMOW-268 Deadpool (Reynolds): A sword-wielding motormouth, mercenary Wade Wilson is another member of Stryker’s team who won’t be the same man by the end of the film.

Agent Zero (Daniel Henney): Another Team X-er, this guy is one heck of a tracker and an even better marksman. He and Wolverine don’t exactly see eye to eye.

Sabretooth (Schreiber): Wolverine’s half-brother Victor Creed is a feral villain whose long history with Wolverine made Hood drool with delight. "That is just great emotional backstory and baggage: You’ve got two guys who are actually related, who hate each other and who are struggling with each other? I’m in!”

I enjoyed the movie very much. I hadn't known Wolverine was that old nor that he was Victor Creeds half brother.

I liked the pace of the movie as well as the various mutant characters.

Will I am turned out to be a surprisingly convincing actor. Ryan Reynolds was very funny as always although I thought he just had a very tiny role.
Gambit however was a bit of a disappointment mainly because he missed that Cajun accent. I, for one, always loved that accent. That doesn’t mean that the actor himself did a bad job. He was, except for the accent, a very good Gambit and pretty cute to boot. (I am kind of hoping for a Gambit/Rogue love story along the line. They have such great chemistry.)

The special effects were excellent. Altogether it’s absolutely a must see for all the X-men/ Marvel fans.

My fav. x-men are NightCrawler,Gambit & Psyclops... I was disappointed in the way Kurt looked in X2! I really do not think they gave him
proper justice at all !! Though I have to admit his opening in x2 was awesome. As for Gambit.. He is one of my favorites, MY husbands fav's & my mom's fav,s ! In fact he is the only character we all have a preference for. So they better get him right the actor playing him.. Is pretty cute but looks alone do not make a Remy. If he doesn't have that fab cajun accent, well then he is not Gambit !!! On a even more personal note my husband and I have agreed to name our first son Remy :-) So they better get him right
