Cover boy Jamie Oliver wants to change the way we eat
Superstar chef — and this weekend’s cover boy — Jamie Oliver is on a mission to teach people how to become healthy eaters. Continuing the campaign he started in his native England, Oliver is now bringing his new book Jamie’s Food Revolution to the U.S. Associate editor. T.J. Walter caught up with the affable English chef when he was on his way to Huntington, W.Va. — 2009’s most unhealthy city in America — and the site of Oliver’s new, 6-week ABC primetime series airing this spring. Speaking bluntly about how Americans and Brits alike are in battle with obesity and overall bad health, Oliver says that, in most of the research he has done, America and England have many of the same problems and the solution is a simple one for most people: learn how to cook for yourself. In this week’s cover story, Oliver offers nine easy steps that can radically change the way you eat and save you money. Plus, you can pose a food challenge or question to Oliver, who is going to answer one reader's query in an upcoming issue.

Nigella talks Christmas and cooking
I've been browsing Nigella Lawson's new Christmas cookbook this morning (dwelling longest on desserts for some reason!) to come up with questions for our interview next week. Lawson has hosted TV shows in both the U.S. and England, Nigella Feasts and Nigella Express among them, and she has written several books already — my favorite of her titles is How to Be a Domestic Goddess. The new book out now, pictured left, looks like a pretty shiny present and in the forward Lawson talks about celebrating Christmas in the kitchen, as opposed to, say, feeling like all that cooking is a chore? What questions would you ask this domestic goddess of Christmas? Please share them in a post below and I'll take them to her Monday.

Alicia Silverstone touts her new vegan diet book
Alicia Silverstone, who rose to fame in the 1995 teen movie Clueless, was making the media circuit last week promoting her new vegan diet and cookbook, The Kind Diet: A Simple Guide to Feeling Great, Losing Weight, and Saving the Planet. She's quite the ad for her kind of eating, beautiful at 33. She's been vegan for 11 years and she says she wanted to share her experience with others. I will feature Silverstone in a print Who's News column next month, but in the meantime she had plenty to say, so see her chatting in the video here and read below for a quick Q and A,
